It is crazy how much life has changed since this was posted on April 22, 2019. I have started finding more appreciation for the Easter traditions, mostly because my kids are so creative and do some really cool designs.
I have also reached my goal of earning my bachelor's degree! I remember the feeling like that was just a dream, and now I am working on my next big dream!
A Motivated Monday
Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic Easter weekend and has started their week with a can-do anything attitude! One of my new goals is to try to openly communicate more and focus on building our business up. I decided that I could start blogging more and kill the two birds with one stone! So, my plan is to write on Mondays about my goals and challenges for the coming week and on Fridays to reflect on how the week went. I will also write once a week about a new project we have been working on from that week. So please be patient as I get this system into full swing. My weekend was surprisingly wonderful! Last Friday I was kind of dreading the whole thing because honestly, I don’t love the traditions of Easter (I love the meaning behind it!!!)
I don’t really get why the Easter bunny comes or why we hunt eggs!? I don’t love dying eggs with the tye-dyed fingers and the lingering smell of eggs and vinegar but this one went really well… even with a mild migraine! Lou was old enough to get excited about finding her Easter basket, which was a lot of fun! Then we went to my grandmother's and colored eggs and had an egg hunt. It was fun and quality family fun! We also had a photography job this weekend! We took pictures of a family member's wedding. Event photography, weddings especially, causes me lots of anxiety, but it was a beautiful wedding and we had tons of fun!
Another goal of mine is to go back to college and FINALLY earn my Bachelor’s degree. I am very proud to announce that tomorrow is my first day back to school! I enrolled in the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University (online of course). I will be working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship.
A little back story for those that don’t know, like most people, I entered college right after high school, but I also got married and started having children. I managed to juggle college, working part-time, and being a mother fairly successfully. After my third daughter was born I decided to leave school and focus on raising amazing daughters. That has been my main focus for the last ten years, but now that most of the girls have reached middle and high school age and are very self-sufficient I feel this is a great time to go back to school and earn my degree. I think one of the things I am most excited about it (other than the degree itself) is I’m lucky to get the opportunity to show my daughters what it looks like to work hard to achieve your dreams. They get to see firsthand the hard work and dedication it takes to get your degree and then to take that degree to create the life they want. I have been out of school for over a decade, so I am both nervous and excited to get started on earning my degree. So besides starting college, my goals for this week is to finish the last of my projects to list, which included this one order that I am starting to believe is cursed… I’m just kidding.. kind of! I wouldn’t normally admit to it taking me 5 months to complete an order but this really is completely the exception to the norm. A lady I use to go to church with placed an order right after Thanksgiving. I was so excited because this was the biggest order my little business has had, but everything that can go wrong has while I’ve been working on it. She ordered 12 necklaces the first time I made them my daughter spilled fake snow on them and it chemically reacted to the resin so the first set had to be trashed. The next set I attempted didn’t harden correctly because of an out of nowhere temperature change, so that set also had to be trashed. Then all six of us got sick setting me 2 weeks behind. Then the third set of glitter exploded in my workspace so that set was also ruined. I also lost the book that I had dried and pressed the leaves in, the circuit blade stopped cutting, and the mustard seeds went missing… Luckily the tear-drop mold decided to break as I pulled the last pendant out! It’s just been craziness! I am determined to have this order completed and delivered by Sunday! Wish me luck! Well, that’s all I have for now! I hope everyone has an awesome week. I can’t wait to tell everyone all about some of the “recital jewelry” we have been working on later this week! We made it in a style that I hadn’t tried before, so it’s pretty cool if I say so myself! I hope you check it out!
