With it being the week of Lou's 6th birthday this week I wanted to take a little walk down memory lane and look back to the first blog about Lou's birthday!
It's Lou's Birthday!!
From the second I got pregnant with Lou Joy, I knew God was telling me it was time for some significant changes in my life! What I didn’t realize is that I was getting my best friend! She is my shadow, and I literally do everything with her! I get to snuggle so much more, laugh so hard, and hug so tight every day for the last four years! She truly is the “!” exclamation mark that completed our family!! There is never a dull moment with this girl! She keeps us on our toes with her quick wit and memory like an elephant! I'm so thankful that I get to be her Momma!
The last night that she was three (last night), this crazy girl found her big birthday present that we had hidden in our room to wrap after she fell asleep... oops! So, daddy helped her open it. Meet Daisy (the name probably will change again, but right now that is what she is being called!) She was so excited, she had been asking for this doll (with the lama pajamas) for months! We have been working on Lou sleeping in her big girl bed (she has been a co-sleep since birth). She was so happy snuggling Daisy she stayed in her bed all night! But she did wake up and snuggle me this morning!
We got up, and I made breakfast. All the girls ate French toast in the Livingroom and watched Spirit with Lou (I had a picture of them, but I’m pretty sure the older girls would kill me if I posted a photo of them in their Pajamas)! After breakfast, Sister and I worked on her working Wednesday craft, while La painted a few ornaments.
Before I cooked lunch, I ran to the store to get Lou’s birthday balloons (a birthday tradition we have had with her since her first birthday)! Was I got home and started lunch, Lou and I made her birthday cupcakes! I love that she loves to cook and bake and is beginning to remember the steps without me having to read the directions from the box to her!
While the cupcakes were baking and then cooling, Lou went to play. Then our Elves: Billy Williams and Diddle did a little decorating for Lou’s “surprise party.” They decorated the kitchen table and put her presents out. She was so surprised when she came up to finish her cupcakes!
As soon as Daddy got home, the “party” started! We had an early dinner. Then she informed us that she could “open her present before we sang happy birthday or ate cupcakes… if we wanted too!” So of course, she got to open her present. Her sisters had got her a set of clothes to go with her new doll, Daisy!
Then we sang Happy Birthday to her, and we all ate the “belicious” cupcakes Lou had made.
Then we watch a movie together as a family. Nana and Papa stopped by to get a birthday hug and try a yummy cupcake. Now, Daddy has her getting ready for bed!
Today was such a good family day! I was feeling a little mom guilt for not throwing her a big party, planning to take her somewhere fun to celebrate, but she did not need a big party to have a fantastic birthday! She is so happy and thought today was perfect! It was a great reminder that it is not the party, but the people that love you that makes a birthday great! (Her and Sissy will be having a joint party at the end of the month, closer to sissy’s birthday!)
As always, thanks for being part of our Crazy! Until next time…
