It is so crazy that it is almost the last week of March and I have not posted a blog! I apologize for disappearing by life has been hectic! I have a few event blogs I am working on to get out, but I wanted to do a little update blog to show why we have been “missing”.
Really it is all just the season of life we are in. Steve’s back on night shift, I’m still tutoring, then you add volleyball practice, tumbling class, and band practices… needless to say we have just been on the go. There have been a few things beyond the norm though.
First… La is officially 16! It is kind of mind-boggling. We had a little get-together with her friends and played baseball. She will have her big Sweet 16 party in a few weeks. She is definitely my mini-me. She wants to recreate some pictures of me in high school for her birthday photos! I love that she appreciates looking like her mother! We are going to have SOOO much fun doing these and preparing for her Hippie 16 Party!
Sister took the SATs. This is may not seem like a big deal to most people, but it took a lot of her time studying (and a bit of stressing), and it is something that her dad and I never did. We took the ACT, but in high school, neither one of us could dream big enough to even think we were going to go to college. We are so very proud of her! No matter the results (but I am sure she will do fine!!), the fact that she has big dreams and ambitions is fantastic. We have spent so much time talking through all the ways she can reach her goal of being a graphic designer. I love she is not limiting herself to one path and she is giving herself room to see all the different ways she can reach this goal! Most high school students do not see any option than just GO TO COLLEGE. She has that as an option (hints taking the SAT) but she is exploring technical schools, certifications, etc. She sees a big bright future in front of her!
Lou went to her first concert!! We will have a whole blog about it shortly but felt like it was a big enough milestone to share in the updates! She loved it! She sang along to every song and danced the night away! She didn't even complain about having to drive to another state to see her favorite singer!
Lee got into the program of choice she wanted for high school next year so she will be at the same school as her two older sisters. (In case you were trying to do the math mentally, we will have a senior, a junior, and a freshman next year, as well as a 1st grader!!) She is pretty excited, and we could not be prouder of her!
Another Lee update is she had her scoliosis screening at school, which meant we got a letter home. 😉 Next stop was the pediatrician and the imaging center, where they saw some curves. Then the next week we were off to the specialist at the Children’s Hospital. They did another x-rayed her and said she does have an s-shaped curve to her spine, but they are MINOR just under 10 degrees. She did have some range of motions issues with her shoulder that they should her some exercises to do. She has only been doing them for a few days and says she can feel a difference! So good news around the board.
One last update for Lee is she has artwork in a local museum!! Quinlan Visual Arts Center has a youth month exhibit and one of her pieces is in it. She did a Bob Ross-inspired Racoon. I think she did an excellent job, plus it is just so cute! We all took a trip up there today to see it in person!
There has been so much more going on... full blogs on some of the fun stuff like St. Patrick's Day, Preseason (Baseball) Party, Lou's first concert, La's Birthday, Prom and so much more! Thanks for taking the time to get caught up on some of our crazy life! Until next time...
