Today was Favorite Christmas Character Day at Lou’s school, so, of course, she had to be the Grinch! We wanted her to look like the Grinch but couldn’t go crazy because it was for school, and she had a tumbling presentation after school. So, we decided to dress in all green, make a grinch hair headband, and then do green eye makeup (which is an extra big deal because, in our house, makeup is not worn to school until you are in middle school)!
Making Grinch Hairband
I have seen troll hairbands at local festivals, so we had a general idea of what we wanted to do. We did this the night before, so it was ready to go in the morning.
You will need:
A roll of Green Tulle
Headband (we like the one with teeth so that the tulle is held in place better)
Scissors
First, we cut the tulle into pieces around 24 inches. I personally didn’t measure mine; I just used the length of my desk as a guide and cut 10-15 pieces.
Next, I folded the tulle piece in half and looped it around the middle of the headband. Then you repeat this over and over until the headband is covered with tulle.
Lastly, we take all the tulle and gather it together like a ponytail, but not too tight. You take one more piece of tulle and tie a bow around it. And that’s it! It is ready to go.

Getting Ready
The following day, she got up and showered, then got dressed. Daddy and Sister had found green sweatpants and a sweatshirt that matched the grinch shirt she already had. This made it sooo easy!
Now it was time to do her makeup. We used the rainbow color pallet again. We started with yellow at the top, teal through the middle, and filled with lime green. Then blended it out.
Now the look is all together, and she is very proud of her grinch look for the day! She was excited to go to school to show her friends.
Let’s not forget her best friend, who dressed up as Santa Claus today!! He did a great job too!
