Easter is always a fun time! Even though spring starts in March Easter always feels like the official start of spring! This year looked and felt a little different, but it was still packed full of our family traditions.
Friday
On Friday we went to Church with Lou’s best friend to see the Easter presentation. They go to the church Free Chapel, which is known for great productions. For Easter Free Chapel created an original show bringing the story of the life and death of Jesus to life. It had amazing visual effects, live animals, uplifting dances, encouraging music, and a message from Pastor Jentezen Franklin. Lou and her friend enjoyed watching it, and it made the story they have been read seem more real to them.
Saturday
We celebrate Easter at Nana’s house the Saturday before Easter. We typically start the day off with a photoshoot of everyone in their Easter best, but we decided to “skip” this year. We are going to take pictures later during the summer so we could focus on our family and friends.
Our schedules had been very hectic, so we had to stuff the eggs with candy and make gift bags when we got there. Luckily all the teenagers jumped in and got it done in record time!
Next, we split the kids and teens into 2 groups. One group started coloring eggs while the rest played games. Then they switched. This Easter was a few people's first-time coloring eggs, so it was a lot of fun watching them figure out the process. I think they all did an “eggcellent” job and showed off their creativity for these eggs!
Then it was to hind and find the eggs. The littles went inside to play a game and the teenagers hid the eggs. I loved how excited they were to see if they found the best hiding spot and if the eggs, they hid would be found last.
All the littles lined up and when I yelled, "Gooooo," the egg hunt began, and they scattered across the yard. A few of the first-time hunters were a little confused but quickly caught on.
I think it is safe to say they all really enjoyed hunting! They all found a lot of candy, and they were given a goodie bag (instead of prize eggs). They each got a bunny shouter and a Batman Lego pack! Both were a huge hit among the kids and teens alike! The whole day was so much fun!
Sunday
Easter morning started like any other, we woke up to see what the Easter bunny had left us! The Easter Bunny must have been in a hurry because he left pieces of carrots all around the baskets. He even left bunny prints of magic hopping dust all over too! They all got some cool stuff in their baskets. The Easter Bunny also left eggs all over the living room this year, since there was a chance of rain the night before. They quickly figured out their color egg and gathered their prize eggs up. Elvis thought this was the best part of Easter- tons of balls all over just for him 😉.
After Easter baskets, Daddy had a surprise for the kids. I threw together some muffins for breakfast as we all got dressed. Then loaded up in the truck and headed to the ball field to see a baseball game! On the way, we even saw the Easter Bunny riding a motorcycle! We got there a little early because they were having an egg hunt for the kids. Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication and confusion, so we literally got to the field as it ended. Luckily, two very sweet boys saw that Lou didn’t have any eggs and they both gave her some. Afterward, we relaxed in the sun watching the game… well some of us relaxed. Someone rolled down the hill. Daddy even got us peanuts and crackerjacks!
Even though Lou was a little disappointed about missing the egg hunt, she got another signed ball for her baseball collection. A HUGE thank you to Ryan Casteel #9 for taking the time to say hello and sign her ball! She loves baseball more than any kid I have ever seen, and it is mostly from players like him. The ones that really connect with the fans, especially the little kids who truly love everything about Baseball and think being at the ballfield is heaven on Earth!
